Who Is This For?
Blockchain lightning talks are for developers looking to level up as Blockchain developers and entrepreneurs looking for insight into the current and future state of Blockchain and crypto spaces. Meet the folks in the trenches for Blockchain applications, crypto exchanges, Bitcoin, Dogecoin, Ethereum, EOS and more!
What Is A Lightning Talk?
A lightning talk is a very short presentation lasting only 5 minutes each, given at a Meetup. Several lightning talks can be delivered by different speakers in a single session, sometimes called a data blitz. Each lightning talk speaker will have a table where you can watch live demos or learn more.
What Is Wallet Setup & CoinOS?
First, the buyer needs a Bitcoin wallet, a software program where Bitcoins are stored. There is a private key (always keep this number secret) for every Bitcoin address saved in the Bitcoin wallet of the person who owns the balance. The vendor needs a Bitcoin POS (point-of-sale), such as open source CoinOS from Bitcoin Co-op. The vendor can use a visual representation of the POS dollar amount encrypted with the vendor’s public address (can be revealed publicly) in a QR Code.
What is Busking 2.0 With DDP?
The Decentralized Dance Party (DDP) aka the Party Revolution’s mission is to win the Nobel Peace Prize by creating world peace through inclusive partying for all ages and all nations alcohol-free. The DDP is a portable, battery-powered Party System. It consists of hundreds of Party People, carrying boomboxes, and a DJ who wears a backpack, containing an FM radio transmitter. The longest event saw 200 revellers invade three different mediums of public transit in an extravaganza that lasted 13 hours and travelled 170 km. The largest party was in Vancouver, where 20,000 people braved a blizzard to dance together in the streets.
What is AO (Autonomous Organization)?
A decentralized autonomous organization (DAO) is represented by rules encoded as a computer program that is transparent, controlled by shareholders and not influenced by a central governing body. AO at DCTRL is a webserver and backend for Autonomous Organization: flat hierarchy, community ownership. The AO software is open-source, decentralized and runs DCTRL resources.
Why Do We Have Food Sponsors?
For our first Blockchain hangout, all the organizers are volunteers. Our first food sponsor is Adam Soltys, Althea mesh networks, alternative internet connections.
What is EventChain.io?
The EventChain ethos is to put the power of attending events back into the hands of real fans. Our SmartTicket platform solves many of the problems with current event ticketing systems available today, providing the additional benefits through blockchain technology. We believe blockchain technology is the perfect solution to the issue of counterfeit ticketing, excessive transaction fees and unfair ticketing practices. EventChain.io is our second food sponsor.
