The Art Party History
Buy Local to Support Local Artists
The Art Party started as a Facebook Group in 2010 promoting the Main Art Drift, an annual event of local small businesses supporting local artists along Main Street, Vancouver. The Art Party’s buy local post was shared 615 times and liked 64 times on The Art Party Facebook network.
This inspired the tagline: “Buy Local to Support Local Artists”
Today, The Art Party is a social networking community and endorser of Earth Charter®. The Art Party will leverage its +10,000 social media contacts to disseminate the Earth Charter and raise awareness in our local community. The Art Party will collaborate with Earth Charter Partners, Affiliates and with other organizations that have endorsed the Earth Charter in our region. We intend to inspire our members to spread the sustainability vision articulated in the Earth Charter® in Metro Vancouver.
FACEBOOK LOCAL
We’ve produced and promoted over 40 of our own local events for creatives & changemakers on The Art Party Facebook Page and The Art Party Facebook Group. We chose Facebook as the main platform to promote networking events, as it was the dominant site in social networking in Canada where 86% of social networkers have a profile with Facebook.
In addition to The Art Party Facebook Page for Facebook Ads, The Art Party Facebook Group allowed us to funnel our Facebook Friends into a “smaller space” for social networking and promotions. These Members support the arts in Vancouver, including live painting entertainment events. We’ve shared and promoted over 400 live local art and music events on The Art Party Facebook Group since 2010 to help build our community.
GOOGLE LOCAL
The Art Party had over 20 million photo views since 2018 for galleries, restaurants, bars, and hotels in Vancouver. The appreciation from local business owners has been uplifting for making a real impact in our local community. Google founders are real philanthropists and they want to help the “little guy”, not just big advertisers, with their Google Local Guide program.
LOCAL FUNDRAISERS
The Art Party intends to participate in art fundraisers, such as the HSBC United Way fundraiser for local food charities. Our non-profit has a history of working with local food events with our Earth Charter® partner, Walas.
Raised over $10,000 from the sales of HSBC cookbooks with staff recipes to benefit United Way. Liza Lee provided cover illustration and layout design. Original painting raised $1,500 for Shooting Star Foundation to benefit Loving Spoonful.
Digital IMPACT Festival 2020 reached over 1.7 million people around the world from 58 countries on every continent, except Antarctica!
