VANCOUVER LOCAL FOODS
Thursday, January 25, 2018 at 5:30 PM – 9 PM
The Art Party is a social networking community and endorser of Earth Charter®. The Art Party will leverage its +10,000 social media contacts to disseminate the Earth Charter and raise awareness in our local community. The Art Party will collaborate with Earth Charter Partners, Affiliates and with other organizations that have endorsed the Earth Charter in our region. We intend to inspire our members to spread the sustainability vision articulated in the Earth Charter® in Metro Vancouver, such as Vancouver Local Foods and Earth Charter Day Art Show.
The Art Party co-hosted a local food and artisanal vendor event at sustainable design space January 25, 2018 (5:30 pm to 9:00 pm) during Dineout Vancouver Week. Vancouver has been a pioneer of the local food movement, with this subsector of its Green Economy – now a positive economic force in its own right called the “locavore movement”.
Why Vancouver Local Foods Movement?
Eating fresh, locally produced food has always been a way of life in Vancouver, thanks to the bounty flowing from nearby lands and waters. We’re blessed Vancouver is one of the Best Foodie Cities in the world. We love eating good, fresh, organic food!
The event was opened to the public 5:30 pm to 9:00 pm with local food vendors taking place at Dudoc Vancouver in East Vancouver in a 5,000 sq. foot well-restored 1950s warehouse, with large garage doors for easy transfer of food and equipment. It is also home to an urban indoor farm and sustainable design offices, with a large tradeshow area.
